Welcome to the Canary Islands....

These Spanish islands are situated close to the North African coast, but retain a typically Mediterranean flavour. The seven main islands and smaller outcrops are just the tips of a volcanic mountain range lying beneath the Atlantic Ocean.

 

The landscape of the main islands vary considerably, from dramatic volcanic plateaus to subtropical forests and sandy beaches. Tenerife contrasts the snow capped grandeur of Mount Teide with sandy bays and lively resort life.
