Welcome to The Algarve....

The Algarve is the southernmost region of Portugal and it's one of Europe's favourite holiday destinations. Well known for glorious year round sunshine and excellent sandy beaches, it stretches across the whole of southern Portugal. Its name derives from the Arabic El-Gharb meaning "west". This region of Portugal was the last to be re-taken from the Moorish invaders in 1292 and traces of the Moorish presence are still seen in its unique architecture - terraces, chimneys and whitewashed houses.

The diversity of its nature is one of the great strengths of the Algarve. It is so easy to move between differing environments, each with a range of nuances on a similar theme of natural beauty. From the coast with its long stretches of fabulous sandy beaches, broken up by rugged cliffs and fantastic grottoes, up to the hills populated with fig trees, eucalyptus, orange and almond groves, there is a wide range of landscapes to explore, each of them special in their own way.

The Algarve can be considered a paradise for sports lovers, the mild climate year-round makes it the perfect choice for golf enthusiasts, with courses such as Quinta do Lago, Penina and Vale do Lobo having established the Algarve’s reputation as a top quality destination.
